A leading national entity that represents a strategic extension of decades of constructive cooperation between the Syrian Arab Republic and Canada.
We are committed to strengthening and developing the business sector through effective economic and trade partnerships that serve the mutual interests of both countries. 
The Council possesses legal personality and full financial and administrative independence and operates under a robust bylaw that governs the work of joint councils with friendly countries. 
The Council aims to build bridges of economic cooperation, stimulate investment initiatives, and expand partnership horizons in various fields to meet challenges, achieve sustainable development, and serve the national interests of both sides.
The Council was formed by Decision No. 282 of the Minister of Economy and Industry dated 21/04/2025, in accordance with Presidential Decree No. 9 of 23/03/2025, and the bylaws of the Syrian Joint Business Councils with International Countries, approved by Cabinet Resolution No. 58 of 27/08/2017.

Our Mission

To strengthen economic and trade cooperation between the Syrian Arab Republic and Canada by promoting trade exchange and expanding joint investment projects that contribute to the creation of sustainable employment opportunities. The Council works to connect Syrian institutions and companies with their Canadian counterparts in various sectors, providing them with accurate information on economic, trade, and investment laws and regulations in both countries. We also strive to support the access of Syrian exports to the Canadian market in accordance with recognized standards, organize specialized economic exhibitions and events, and facilitate the transfer of knowledge and modern technologies to Syria to enhance the path of comprehensive economic development.

Our Vision

To lead the development of the business sector in Syria by adopting advanced methodologies that keep pace with global changes and contribute to creating an effective and attractive business environment. We aspire to enhance economic, trade, and investment integration with Canada in a way that supports Syria's national interests and the path of sustainable development and comprehensive growth.

Council Objectives

  1. Undertake economic and commercial activities of public benefit that support trade cooperation between institutions and companies in Syria and Canada. These efforts aim to serve the interests of both countries and support the process of progress and economic growth.
    1. Provide information on the economic, commercial, and investment laws and regulations in both countries, with the aim of highlighting the full range of economic sectors and activities in Syria.
  1. Introduce institutions and companies from the public, private, and joint sectors in Syria to their Canadian counterparts, and encourage the implementation of economic projects that support Syria's developmental progress, ultimately establishing appropriate frameworks for all forms of economic and commercial cooperation between the two countries.
  1. Provide logistical support, including organizing joint exhibitions, conferences, and specialized forums across all economic fields; coordinating training courses and workshops; contributing to relevant events; encouraging initiatives related to economic activities; and supporting efforts that serve the process of economic development.
  1. Raise awareness of the economic, commercial, and investment laws and regulations in force in both countries, to highlight available opportunities in various sectors and promote openness to Canadian markets.
  1. Connect Syrian institutions and companies (public, private, and joint sectors) with their Canadian counterparts, and stimulate the launch of joint economic projects that align with Syria's development requirements and develop effective and sustainable frameworks for economic and trade cooperation between the two countries.
  1. Provide logistical and technical support by organizing bilateral exhibitions, specialized conferences, forums, and workshops, and encouraging private economic initiatives, thus enhancing the continuity of development activities and advancing the goals of sustainable economic development.
